Shentel provides the federally-funded Lifeline Program to eligible residential customers.
Eligible customers can apply a monthly Lifeline discount of $9.25 to a voice service or $9.25 to a qualifying Internet service. However, customers can only receive the discount on one service, either voice or internet. For more information about Lifeline discounts on qualifying voice and Internet plans, please contact Shentel Customer Support.
Am I Eligible for Federal Lifeline?
There are two ways to qualify for the Lifeline Program:
Income-Based Eligibility
If your household income is at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines, you may qualify for a Lifeline discount. To see if your household meets this requirement, refer to the federal poverty guidelines eligibility chart, which is updated annually.
Program-Based Eligibility
If you or someone in your household participates in one of the following federal assistance programs, you may be eligible for the Lifeline Program:
Only one Lifeline Program discount is allowed per household. A household is defined as any individual or group of individuals living together at the same address who share income and expenses. The Lifeline benefit is non-transferable, and anyone found providing false information to obtain the discount may face fines, imprisonment, or be banned from the Lifeline Program.
How Do I Apply?
If you meet the eligibility requirements, complete and sign the Lifeline Application Form.
Could I Become Ineligible?
If you stop participating in any qualifying programs or your income increases, you will no longer be eligible for the discounts. You must notify Shentel of any changes, and the discounts will be removed from your account.
