  • Shentel improves network, adds services in rural WV towns

    A recent significant upgrade in network has enabled Shentel to bring new products and services to the towns of Marlinton and Grantsville, both in Shentel’s West Virginia service area.

    Customers in these rural areas, now have access to the highest Internet speed tier Shentel offers - 150Mbps. They will be able to experience truly fast high-speed Internet. Telecommuting and sharing large files is no longer an issue. Busy homes using multiple IP-driven devices won’t have to take turns. Tablets, laptops and desktops can share with speed to spare.

  • Shentel partners with Altec on hybrid truck

    In the spring of 2017, Shentel began to work with Altec, a leading equipment and service provider for the electric utility and telecommunications markets, to find a solution to the unnecessary idle time and fuel consumption of their bucket trucks. Shentel managers and technicians  inspected and tested a new hybrid bucket truck which utilized an electric lift system and took the diesel engine offline.   • Shentel donates to Rural Retreat Depot Foundation

    Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) (SHEN), local provider of cable, internet and wireless services, in partnership with CoBank, donated $5,000 to the Rural Retreat Depot Foundation on Dec. 3. The foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity established in 2011 with a mission to acquire, restore and manage the historic Rural Retreat DepotTM in an effort to preserve the culture of the region.

  • Shentel reports third quarter 2017 results

    For the quarter ending on September 30, 2017, Shenandoah Telecommunications Company reported net income of $3.5 million, compared to a net loss of $7.6 million in the third quarter of 2016, representing an improvement of $11.1 million, or 146.5%.

  • Network upgrade improves service in Botetourt County

  • Shentel completes network upgrade/customer migration

    On Sept. 30, Shentel completed upgrade of the former nTelos network from 3G to 4G LTE, along with the migration of former nTelos customers to the Sprint billing system.  This completes the transformation of the former nTelos wireless service area, acquired by Shentel in May 2016, to the Sprint Affiliate model in 17 months, a full quarter ahead of schedule.

  • MacKenzie retiring from Shentel

    Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (“Shentel” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ:SHEN) announced today that Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Earle A. MacKenzie has informed the company of his intent to retire. Shentel has retained Spencer Stuart, an executive search firm, to initiate an open and comprehensive search for Mr. MacKenzie’s replacement. Mr. MacKenzie has agreed to stay with the company until his successor is hired and for a period of time thereafter to ensure a smooth transition of responsibilities.
