    Twice a year, the sun is positioned directly in line with the ground-based satellite dish antennas used to receive Shentel Cable TV programming. This positioning causes programming interruptions as the sun’s energy overpowers the signals transmitted by the satellites. This will take place between Oct. 2 and Oct. 13 this fall.

  • Shentel donates $20,000 to American Red Cross West Virginia

    Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) has announced it has made a $20,000 donation to the American Red Cross West Virginia Region to assist with efforts to repair homes and communities following the devastating floods. The donation reflects $10,000 from Shentel Cable and $10,000 from Shentel's Sprint affiliate.

  • Shentel Prepares for Winter Snowstorm

    With snow warnings for Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland through Wednesday, Shentel is making plans to deal with the effects of the heavy snowfall. We are fueling generators, checking our equipment and scheduling technicians to be available after and, in some cases, during the storm.

  • Hurricane Sandy Updates

    Hurricane Sandy is a large storm with the strength to cause widespread outages throughout our service area.  The storm will bring high winds, heavy rains and snow to the higher elevations.  We are not experiencing any storm related outages at this time.  As high winds come into our service area toppling trees and downing lines, outages will occur.  We will be posting updates to the status of outages and our network repairs on this page.

  • Shentel Reflects on the June 29th Storm

    The June 29th storms that affected our area caused widespread damage by bringing down lines and disrupting power.  We thank our customers for their patience while our crews worked to repair the damage.  Our crews are part of the communities we service, and many of them worked through 104 degree heat to restore services while their own homes were without power.
