USTelecom has announced the appointment of two new members to the association’s Board of Directors, Christopher French, President and CEO, Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) and Tony Thomas, President and CEO, Windstream.

French has served as President and CEO of Shentel since 1988, and has been a member and Chairman of the Board of Directors since 1996. Prior to his appointment as president, French held a variety of positions with the company. Shentel is a leading provider of voice, video and data communications for products and services provided by wireline, wireless and cable for consumers in the southeastern United States. The company is headquartered in Edinburg.

Thomas has served as President and CEO of Windstream for the past three years and has held a variety of finance and operations leadership roles in the telecommunications industry for more than 20 years.

"Chris and Tony bring significant leadership and vision to the team of outstanding industry executives who serve on our Board of Directors and Leadership Committee,” said Anand Vadapalli, CEO of Alaska Communications and Chair of USTelecom’s Board. “Their wise counsel will be instrumental to USTelecom’s advocacy efforts to promote smart, common-sense policies that will ensure broadband connectivity is available to all Americans, no matter where they live.
