There’s a new store in town – for a month. Shentel on the Road opened a retail store location on Main Street on May 18 and it will stay open for a month.
“It’s a great way for us to get to know the communities we serve better,” said Tom Whitaker, VP of Shentel Cable. “This is our second ‘pop-up’ store where we set up in an area where we do not have a retail store. It’s a unique opportunity to reach our customers where they live.”
The store, located next to Pizza Hut, is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Customers may pay bills, ask questions, try out new services and learn more about what Shentel has to offer.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays Shentel will offer free Internet classes at the store. The Tuesday classes will be held May 26, June 2 and June 9 and will discuss protecting your privacy and learning how to spot spam and scams on the Internet. The Thursday courses, which will be held May 28, June 4 and June 11, will be an opportunity to ask our expert, Associate Professor Wendy Ezell, questions you have about the Internet – whether it is about browsing, social media or Microsoft products.
The store also features several interactive displays so that visitors can try out different ways of finding and streaming content on the Internet. Chromecast, Roku and Apple TV are available for testing. Shentel’s own whole home gateway product, Maestro, is also available for a test drive. This product lets customers control all three – Internet, Cable TV and Home Phone – services. Learn what it is like to enjoy entertainment on your time.
The Shentel on the Road Store is located – through June 18 - at 315 South Main Street in Blackstone.
