Shentel on Net Neutrality

Shentel has always believed in an Open Internet.
The part of the Net Neutrality Law – which goes into effect on June 12 – will not affect us or our customers. Websites, videos, music, anything our customers download to their computers, we have always delivered from our servers to their home as fast as their Internet speed package allows.
We fully agree with the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) order regarding blocking, throttling and paid prioritization of content providers.
However, the FCC has also recommended additional regulations that we do not agree with.
Net Neutrality reclassifies broadband Internet access service as a telecommunications service subject to Title II of the Communications Act. This action will adversely impact an industry already trying to navigate difficult issues and keep up with a constantly changing technological landscape.
