Shentel on the Road stops in Richwood, WV

Posted 10 February 2015 12:00 AM by CLE Rinker

Sometimes you have to step out of your regular, familiar workspace and try something a little new.

That is what Shentel has done in Richwood, WV. For the month of February, Shentel moved into a storefront on Main Street and set up shop as part of its “Shentel on the Road” initiative.

Because Shentel customers live in largely rural areas, the drive to a Shentel office can take quite a lot of time. In the case of Richwood, the drive to Summersville takes almost 45 minutes. And on the days when you get behind a coal truck, it can be even longer.

Doris Kidd and Becky Moorefield are manning the store and meeting with local customers and interested people to discuss whatever is on their minds. “It has been a lot of fun getting to know the people of Richwood,” said Doris Kidd, marketing assistant from the Weston, WV, office.

While some have come in just to see who Shentel is, several customers have stopped by with questions about their service – which is exactly what Shentel hoped would happen. Shentel on the Road is the company’s opportunity to bring the expertise of our company into the smaller communities we serve.

Better yet, it is a chance for people to come in and try out our services. This trip we are emphasizing Internet service and have several devices available so that visitors can try out Apple TV, Google Chromecast and Roku and explore the options of the Internet.

Shentel is also hosting two free classes during the month. On Thursday, Feb. 12, a class on Internet Basics will be offered which will dive into the fundamentals of using the Internet. On Feb. 12, there will be a free class on Cloud Computing to help people understand how and when “the cloud” is important to you. You may be surprised to find out how much “cloud computing” you already do!

If you are in Richwood in February, come by the store at 1 East Main Street and take a look around. We have plenty to show you and we are ready to answer your questions, even take your bill if you wish. More later on where Shentel on the Road will turn up next.

Cindy Earehart Rinker is a marketing supervisor at Shentel who hears Willy Nelson sing every time she hears someone say Shentel on the Road.
