Shentel will be on the scene in Covington this weekend. StreetScene 2013, in fact.
The 35th annual event will be held in downtown Covington on Saturday, Aug. 10. Hosted by Kars Unlimited Inc., StreetScene 2013, promises to be one of the best shows ever. The car show will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Last year, more than 220 vehicles of all types participated in the classic car event. “We are excited to take part in this very community-oriented event,” said Angela Washington, marketing manager, Shentel. “This is the first time Shentel has participated and we are truly looking forward to it.”
In addition to the cars on display, the Covington Volunteer Fire Department will be displaying their vintage 1927 American La France fire truck, “Hezikiah,” at the show.
According to Kars Unlimited, StreetScene is one of the longest running open car shows in the state of Virginia. In addition to the car show, merchants (like Shentel) and food vendors will be set up throughout the show. Several door prizes will be awarded and there are free children’s activities all day.
StreetScene Saturday Night will take place at the River Rock Ampitheatre and will feature the band, Leggz from 6 to 10 p.m. Leggz performs a variety of oldies, Motown and classic rock music and the band has opened for artists such as Bon Jovi and The Doobie Brothers.
At the end of the concert there will be a fireworks display. The concert is open to everyone and is free of charge. Concession and other activities will be available at the concert.
