Telecommunications company hosting outdoor movie at Sept. 17 event
Edinburg, Va. – Sept. 8, 2011 – Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) (NASDAQ: SHEN), an established provider of Internet, television and home phone services, announces that it is providing free admission for all attendees to the annual Autumn Harvest Festival in Welch, W.Va., and hosting a free outdoor movie as part of the day’s activities. The 2011 Autumn Harvest Festival is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sat., Sept. 17, 2011, at Linkous Park.
Co-hosted by the City of Welch and the McDowell Chamber of Commerce, the Autumn Harvest Festival is an annual event that features food from local vendors, hayrides, fireman tug-of-war, fireworks, and a kids’ zone with games. In the past, a small entrance fee was required for the festival. However, with Shentel’s support, the event is free for everyone in attendance, as is the outdoor showing of the animated movie, “Gnomeo & Juliet.” Shentel will also provide free popcorn during the movie, beginning at sundown. Movie-goers should plan to bring a blanket or chair.
Mary Odum, president of the McDowell Chamber of Commerce, commented, “We are excited to have Shentel participate in this year’s Autumn Harvest Festival. This is the first time we have featured an outdoor movie, which is a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy a family-friendly movie out in the open.”
Cindy Rinker, Shentel, said, “On behalf of Shentel, I invite the Welch community to come out for an evening of fun at Linkous Park. The free festival admission and outdoor movie are just another way of showing our commitment to the communities our customers call home. I hope everyone has a great time.”
