Telecommunications company sponsoring Aug. 20 event, hosted by the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce

Edinburg, Va. – Aug. 17, 2011 – Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) (NASDAQ: SHEN), an established provider of telephone, Internet and cable television services, prepares to celebrate the 5th Annual Sip-n-Shag Beach Bash with the Bedford, Va., community. Hosted by the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, the event will be held on Aug. 20 on the shores of Smith Mountain Lake.

Beach Bash attendees are invited to stop by the Shentel tent throughout the evening to meet and greet company representatives, register to win prizes, and learn more about the latest offerings in High-Speed Internet, cable TV and Home Phone – including the new cable channel lineup introduced earlier this month. As of Aug. 2, television customers in the Bedford area have a new channel lineup that consists of twice the number of high-definition channels as the previous lineup.

The Sip-n-Shag Beach Bash will also feature food, wine, micro-brewed beer from local breweries, dancing, crafts, music by the Fantastic Shakers, and a Corvette exhibit from the Virginia Corvette Club.

Christopher Kyle, vice president of sales and marketing, Shentel, said, “Shentel has been making an effort to establish a strong presence in the Bedford community, since we became the area’s cable provider one year ago. We are excited for the opportunity to sponsor the popular Sip-n-Shag Beach Bash, which is sure to be a great follow-up to our Bedford store grand opening celebration on Aug. 12.”
