Shentel Supports Local Anticrime Programs and Pulaski Police Department

Posted 2 August 2011 12:00 AM by Shentel

Shentel will supply Fingerprint America ID Complete Child Identification and DNA Kit to families at local event, National Night Out Tuesday, Aug. 2

August 2, 2011 – Shentel, an established provider of telephone, Internet and cable television services, is providing Pulaski with ID Complete Child Identification and DNA Kits to support the town during National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug 2. The event, organized by Officer Megan Jennings, will start at 6 p.m. at Jackson Park in Pulaski.

This event, sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW), is held to raise awareness for crime and drug prevention as well as to support local anticrime programs.  NATW and the community hope to generate support for these programs and community law enforcement as well as create a sense of unity and organization in the community.

Chris Kyle, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Shentel said.  “Shentel is proud to aid parents in their efforts to protect their children and their communities with these ID Complete kits.  We believe in supporting the communities we serve and by supplying these kits, we can do just that.”

The Fingerprint America kits are designed to have all of the child’s information in one place along with their unique fingerprint and DNA sample.  In the case of a crisis, such as the disappearance of the child, the parent would be able to quickly provide the police with this information.  The easy-to-follow instruction sheet ensures assembly is safe and accurate.  The kits contain medical and dental information, a physical description and a recent photo in addition to the DNA and fingerprints.

Communities celebrate this event in a number of ways, including parades, parties, contests and youth programs.  There are also National awards given based on participation, campaign, law enforcement involvement and special events hosted on National Night Out.

For more information on this event contact Officer Megan Jennings at (540)994-8676. Information on the NATW is available by emailing or calling 1-800-NITE-OUT.
