Posted 11 November 2010 12:00 AM by Shentel

Edinburg, Va. – Nov. 11, 2010 – Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) (NASDAQ: SHEN), an established provider of telephone, Internet and cable television services, announced that it will broadcast the 2010 Veterans Day Parade in Welch, W.Va. Working with a local videographer Bill Hornick to chronicle the day’s festivities on Thursday, Nov. 11, Shentel will air the parade in full with commentary from John Sidote of WELC-FM 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, on Channel 6.

Held for almost a century, Welch’s Veterans Day Parade honors the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. This year’s parade will feature Mount View High School Marching Band, Mount View Middle School Band, River View High School Marching Band, Bluefield Beaver Band, Concord University’s Band, and guest speaker General Robert H. “DOC” Foglesong United States Air Force. In holding with tradition, commentary will be provided by John Sidote of WELC-FM.

Christopher Kyle, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Shentel, said, “Shentel is pleased to bring residents of Welch the opportunity to watch the annual Veterans Day parade on television. We hope that those who cannot attend the parade, or attendees who would like to watch it again at home, will enjoy this presentation of a McDowell County Veterans Day tradition.”

Held annually on the third weekend of March, the Greater Mountain Lakes Home & Garden Show features crafts, home improvement demonstrations and representatives dealing in roofing, siding, home building, lawn care, water systems, flooring and more. Also, visitors can see antiques, register for door prizes and giveaways, sample food, climb a rock wall and children can get their faces painted. The show attracts about 3,000 people.

Christopher Kyle, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Shentel, said, “Participating in the Greater Mountain Lakes Area Home & Garden Show for the second year gives Shentel the opportunity to continue to build upon its relationships with the Summersville community. It is our pleasure to offer free Wi-Fi Internet access throughout the event, and we invite attendees to take the time to visit us.”
