Covington, Va., Resident Finishes 5K Run, 5K Paddle and 16K Bike Ride in 1:14.25

Edinburg, Va. – May 25, 2010 – Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) is pleased to congratulate Jeremy Bartley, the overall winner of Saturday’s 2nd Annual Alleghany Highlands Triathlon. Bartley, 32, a middle-school gym teacher and frequent triathlon competitor from Covington, Va., completed the course with a time of 1:14.25 – four minutes ahead of the second-place finisher.

Shentel served as Bartley’s sponsor as he completed 16.2-mile course comprised of a 5K run, 5K boat race and a 16K bike ride. The race began at the Alleghany Highlands YMCA in Low Moor, Va., and ended at Douthat State Park in Millboro, Va. Ray Legge came in second with a time of 1:18.33; and the third place overall finisher was Ned White, who clocked in at 1:23.45.

“After placing second at the Greater Greenbrier Triathlon in April, I was determined to bring home a win at the Alleghany Highlands Triathlon,” Bartley said. “I would like to thank Shentel for sponsoring me throughout the racing season. I was grateful to see Shentel personnel cheering for me, along with my family and friends, as I crossed the finish line.”
