The event will take place 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, at 1427C S. Main St., and is open to all Farmville area residents.

Shentel’s grand opening celebration will kick off at 9 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony that will include members of the Farmville Chamber of Commerce and local dignitaries. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., customers and members of the Farmville community are invited to join Shentel for refreshments, as radio station WFLO will broadcast live from the store. The event will also feature giveaways, and attendees can register to win the grand prize – a 32-inch Sony BRAVIA LCD high-definition (HD) TV.

Shentel has been Farmville’s local cable provider since the company completed the acquisition of JetBroadband in July 2010. Located at The Shoppes @ College Park, the South Main Street building reopened its doors as the new Shentel store on Nov. 8, 2010. At the Shentel store, open from 8 p.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, visitors can sample the latest in cable, Internet and home phone technology, while current customers can pay their bills and new customers can sign up for Shentel services.

Christopher Kyle, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Shentel, said, “We are excited to be the cable provider of Farmville residents, and look forward to celebrating the opening of this new location with them. It is important to Shentel to be available to our customers, and opening a local store is a great way to ensure that. On behalf of Shentel, I welcome the Farmville community to our grand opening celebration.”
