Shentel Provides Free Internet and High Definition TV to Weston Café

Posted 7 April 2010 12:00 AM by Shentel

Edinburg, Va. – April 7, 2010 – Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel; NASDAQ: SHEN), an established provider of telephone, Internet and cable television services, announced that it is providing free wireless (WiFi) Internet and high-definition (HD) cable television to Second & Center Café in Weston, W.Va. Customers can access the Internet on their laptops and watch a large flat-screen Toshiba HD TV equipped with digital video recorder (DVR) capabilities.

Second & Center opened in January 2009 already equipped with Internet – a service that carried over from Shentel’s arrangement with the previous building owner. Recently, Shentel installed a flat-screen television with a DVR that allows viewers to record, pause and rewind live cable TV. In the future, Shentel may supply Second & Center Café with free digital phone service.

Andrea “Andi” Evans, owner of Second & Center Café, said, “Shentel has been extremely generous in providing Second & Center with wireless Internet and cable television. Because there are few businesses in the area that offer patrons free WiFi, we have had no problem attracting customers to Second & Center. Here, they have the convenience of doing work while they dine.”

Christopher Kyle, Shentel’s Director of Marketing, said, “Establishing a partnership with Second & Center Café is a great opportunity that is mutually beneficial for both Shentel and the new café. By providing free Internet and cable TV with DVR capabilities, Shentel can raise awareness and hopefully spark interest among potential customers, while Second & Center can attract additional customers. We look forward to continuing and expanding our partnership with Second & Center.”

Second & Center Café, located at 139 E. 2nd St., is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information about Second & Center, please call (304) 571-1151.
