Phishing scams try to hook customers!
"Phishing" is a term used to describe an email scam where a hacker will pose as a legitimate business in order to convince unsuspecting victims to provide private, personal data such as passwords, account information or credit card numbers. They will do this by sending out emails which appear to come from a legitmate business or posting links to a fake website which mimics an actual website.
Shentel will never ask customers to reveal a password or submit private information through an email. Anything from Shentel will feature the Shentel logo and will contain a link to our official sites located at www.shentel.com or hello.shentel.com. Remember, Shentel will NEVER ask for financial information, passwords or your account number via email.
If you see a suspicious email, do not open it or click on any links. Delete the email immediately and report the email to Shentel. You may visit this page for up-to-date information regarding known active scams. If you have any questions, please call 1-800-SHENTEL.
